Corona-virus Update

If you have travelled abroad in the last 14 days or been in close contact with someone with confirmed coronavirus please do not attend the GP surgery but check the government’s gov.uk website for the latest advice. For further medical advice call or go online to NHS 111 before making or attending any appointment. This is national guidance from NHS England. 

The main symptoms of coronavirus are:

  • a cough
  • a high temperature

How coronavirus is spread

  • Because it's a new illness, we do not know exactly how coronavirus spreads from person to person.
  • Similar viruses spread in cough droplets.
  • It's highly unlikely coronavirus can be spread through packages from affected countries or through food. How to avoid catching or spreading germs

How to avoid catching or spreading germs

  • There's currently no vaccine for coronavirus.
  • But there are things you can do to help stop germs like coronavirus spreading.
  • Seek further specialist advice from a local microbiologist, virologist or infectious diseases physician. There is additional guidance from PHE.

Do

  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • put used tissues in the bin straight away
  • wash your hands with soap and water often – use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell

Don't

  • do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

  • There is no specific treatment for coronavirus.
  • Treatment aims to relieve the symptoms while your body fights the infection.
